Montessori-Palau learning to swim methodology
Building aquatic awareness and mastering the aquatic environment is essential for the child’s development from a very early age. The content and goals of our aquatic programs are specially designed for every age, starting at six months old.
Our metodology is based on the inexistence of flotation devices attached to the body of the child. Thus, the sensation of buoyancy that the child feels is real and later on, when he or she uses flotation aids, it is done in a conscious manner. The certified teacher in charge of the sessions and the assistant instructors are constantly in the water controlling the movements and evolution of each child, especially when he or she starts to become familiar with and adapts to the aquatic environment. We work on breathing, buoyancy and propulsion techniques in all ventral and dorsal positions and in the pool that better suits the practitioner’s age and level. By working with the volume and level of water right for the child and by providing a personalized attention, the child’s safety is guaranteed at all times, as well as the maximum possible practice time. The introduction to swimming techniques also includes gesture analytical work exercises outside the water.
